 The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East is set to host a day full of exciting motorsport activities on Friday 9th April, which will feature the Batelco 2000cc Challenge, Circuit Racing Club sprint races and a Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship test and tune session.


The 6th round of the Batelco 2000cc Challenge, organized by the Bahrain Motor Federation, will see some of the most competitive drivers in Bahrain pull up to the starting line in a variety of 2.0 litre engine powered cars. The eight round series has witnessed some of the most adrenaline pumping motorsport action to be seen and the 6th round promises to be no different. With several drivers still in contention for this year’s title when the green light gives the go this Friday Shaikh Jaber Al Khalifa, Mustafa Al Khan, Shaikh Hamad Al Khalifa and Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa will all be gunning for a podium finish.


The Bahrain Motor Federation has announced Mazen Al Hilli as Steward of the event, Nawaf Al Malood as Clerk of the Course, Adel Yousif as Chief of Timing, Ahmed Al Doseri as Chief of the Pit-lanes and Ahmed Hassan as Chief of Logistics. Saleh Hassan and Hassan Ismail are designated Chief Marshals and Mohammed Ebrahim Al Jawder is the official Bahrain Motor Federation Observer.


Other on track activities will include the 5th round of the Circuit Racing Club which will see some of the Kingdom’s most skilled aspiring drivers take to the track in their own vehicles in an attempt to set the best time possible. Sprints will be divided into racing categories which will include motorbikes and several car classes, and will run both practice and sprint sessions.


The event will be accompanied by a wide selection of entertainment which will provide plenty of activities for all the family. Children will be able to participate in carnival stalls, game booths, a jumping castle and kiddies train while adults can enjoy a constant stream of live music. Doors will be open from 9am to 5pm and all are welcome to attend. Tickets are available for those looking to attend the event and are priced at BD2 for adults, while 15 year olds and under will receive a half price discount. Those under the age of three years may attend completely free of charge. Tickets can be bought via the BIC call center on +973-17450000 and at the BIC Welcome Center located at the Circuit in Sakhir.


Bahrain International Circuit will also be hosting a Test and Tune session on Friday 9th April in preparation for the upcoming Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship round. The event is being organized by the Bahrain Drag Racing Club in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation and Bahrain International Circuit.
An estimated one hundred drivers from Bahrain and across the region are expected to travel to Bahrain International Circuit and test their cars and motorbikes out on the quarter-mile strip in preparation for the 5th round of the season, which takes place at Bahrain International Circuit on the 14th, 15th and 16th of April 2010.

 

All motorsport fans are welcome to attend the tests and see the region’s best drag racers in action. Tickets are priced at 2BD for adults, and 1BD for all those aged between 3 to 15 years old. Bahrain International Circuit has allocated Lounge 11 along the Oasis Complex for all media members interested in covering the event.
