Stephen Kellogg made it two wins from two races yesterday in the second round of the BIC 2,000cc Challenge.
After starting race one from pole, Kellogg never wavered and he claimed his first chequered flag of the day in 20 minutes 35.503 seconds. Kellogg finished nearly a half-minute ahead of his closest rivals. Tim Birkin was the runner-up 24.039s behind, while Abdulrahman Ghuloom was third 27.637s back.
In race two, pole-man Hisham Al Othman stalled on the grid and did not compete the rest of the way, leaving Kellogg to fight for yet another win. Midway through, he was engaged in an all-out battle with Ghuloom and Birkin, which he won by passing his two rivals down the straight. He held on for the remainder of the race to win in 20:39.084.
Ghuloom this time was second 2.924s behind, while Birkin was third 25.001s back.
“This round was absolutely great,” Kellogg said. “It all boils down to preparations at the end, and my teammates did a great job in getting my car ready for today’s two races.
“The championship is heating up now, everybody is getting closer and closer, and we have a long way still to go over the rest of the season.”
