The latest addition to the Batelco 2.0 litre Series rolled off the “production line” at Bahrain International Circuit this week. Prepared by the mechanical engineering team at BIC’s workshops under the guidance of Neil Harker the car is a Ford Focus with the powerful and dependable a Zetec 2.0 litre engine.
The car will be entered in the Batelco series by well known motorsport supporter Ahmed Kozbar and his team. The car is the first of a batch of cars supplied by the legendary M Sport operation that is currently leading both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships in the FIA World Rally Championship.
The new Ford Focus will be entered in this weekend’s CRC event and is expected to be very competitive. The Focus road car, from which the competition version is directly derived, is acknowledged as being one of the best handling road cars of all time and this is sure to make a difference on the track. The car has been prepared completely for its competition debut by the BIC workshop mechanics and engineers and underlines the range of diverse activities that the BIC works on throughout the year. There are further three Focus three-door cars to be produced for the burgeoning Batelco series as well as a five-door version that is nearing completion.
