BIC, Sakhir – Wednesday, October 8, 2008:

Bahrain International Circuit invites all Batelco 2000CC drivers to test their cars tomorrow before the second season of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge gets underway on November 6-7-8 as a support race to the popular Australian Desert 400 V8 Supercars race. The weekend will also see National Sprint drivers gearing up for the start of the Circuit Racing Club season.

The series, which is held under the Bahrain Motor Federation umbrella along with unmatched cooperation from the Circuit Racing Club and BIC, is expected to see many more participants this year as the self-build race reaches new heights of popularity.

Last season saw a fight to the finish between top drivers Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and Mustafa Al Khan. With the former dominating the leaderboard throughout the entire season, Shaikh Salman went on to win the series and pick up prizes courtesy of Bahrain’s leading telecommunications company, Batelco.

Testing will take place on both the Paddock and Inner Circuits. As the Paddock Circuit will be the first configuration competitors will be racing on, drivers will be given the chance to practice on the track prior to the Australian festival. Drivers wishing to join the season will be welcome to attend the day and will be provided with all relevant information and details on signing up.

The Batelco 2000CC Challenge testing session commences at 8.30am tomorrow morning and will continue through to 12.30pm. Drivers making their way to BIC for the National Sprint Championship can do so as the races will commence from 12.30pm until 5pm on Friday afternoon.
