BIC, Sakhir – Tuesday, October 28, 2008:

As the Circuit Racing Club and Bahrain International Circuit get ready for the second season of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge, the CRC extended its warmest thanks and appreciation to the Bahrain Motor Federation, Batelco and BIC following a highly successful inaugural season.

Following the 08/09 season press launch earlier this week, Mazen Al-Hilli, CRC President, thanked Peter Kaliaropoulos, Martin Whitaker and Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa for a superb first season and their continued support to the series and keenness on developing motorsports in Bahrain. He added that without the hard work and effort from all parties involved, the Batelco 2000CC Challenge would not be seeing the great success and popularity that it now sports today.

He also added that he looked forward to an even more thrilling second season which looks set to see 14 confirmed drivers during the first round which will support the upcoming Gulf Air Desert 400 V8 Supercars Race this November 6-7-8. It will also be the first local series to support the international race weekend which will also see the final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and the DHL Gulf Radical Cup taking place.

Registration is still open for all those wishing to participate in the season for a one off fee of BD200. Drivers will need to hold a BMF National ‘C’ Racing License, and will need to own a car that complies with the series’ technical regulations. Technical regulations which gives the exact details of how the cars need to be constructed, as well as the safety aspects that must be adhered to can be downloaded from www.crcbahrain.com. Drivers interested in participating can email the CRC on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or alternatively complete a registration form which can be collected from the Bahrain Motor Federation offices between 8.30am to 1.30pm and 4pm through to 7pm from Sundays to Thursdays.

The first Batelco 2000CC Challenge saw a total of 15 drivers take part in the series. With 14 drivers already signed up for the start of the second season, and more along the way, 2008/2009 looks set to be an even more exciting year.
