Motorsport fans will be in for a treat as the sixth round of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge and the third round of the Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship step up to the plate for more intense competition this weekend.

The Batelco 2000CC Challenge has seen increased competition and record numbers of drivers join in the competition this season as leading telecommunications company, Batelco, continues its support as title sponsor.

The sixth round of the Batelco 2000CC Challenge will kick off on Friday morning, February 27, as all eyes turn to focus on Bahrain’s local talents including Mustafa Al Khan, last season’s champion Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and this season’s top rival Shaikh Jaber bin Ali Al Khalifa. The event which has been organised by the Circuit Racing Club and is sanctioned by the Bahrain Motor Federation, and sponsored by Batelco will see the drivers go head-to-head in the series to pick up trophies and steal big prizes.

As intense preparations are underway, Shaikh Salman revealed that he had been working hard on modifying his green Honda CRX, as has Mohammed Saleh who picked up second place in the last round and is now setting his sights higher.

The action will continue in the evenings on the drag strip at Bahrain International Circuit as the Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship kicks off first with the ‘test and tune’ on Wednesday. The event which has been organised by the Bahrain Drag Racing Club, and is sanctioned by the Bahrain Motor Federation, will see the qualifiers begin on Thursday evening whilst race day will commence on Friday evening.
