Bahrain International Circuit is set to provide even more spectacular racing action when it hosts the 6th round of this year’s Batelco 2000cc Challenge this weekend, Friday 9th April. With only three rounds remaining in the 2009-10 season, the competitors will be determined to claim as many points as they can to better their chances at blistering to this season’s title. Spectators are guaranteed some of the most adrenaline pumping, bumper to bumper action to be seen in the Middle East as this collection of Hondas, Renaults, Fords and BMWs line up at the starting line to prove just who is the fastest, most talented and determined driver in one of the most popular regional series.

This season has been a whirlwind of rubber burning, wheel screeching action as some of the most skilled drivers in the Bahrain have competed at Bahrain International Circuit in this 8 round series. The 6th round is set to be a four way battle as Shaikh Jaber Al Khalifa, Mustafa Al Khan, Shaikh Hamad Al Khalifa and Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa are all in contention for this year’s championship title. While Shaikh Jaber Al Khalifa leads the championship with 80 points, Mustafa Al Khan and Shaikh Hamad Al Khalifa are not far behind on 77 and 76 points respectively. Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa, driving a Honda CRX, follows just 6 points behind the table leader with 74 points.

The previous round, held as part of the support race program for the 2010 Gulf Air Desert 400, witnessed a determined Raed Himmo claim victory in the first race of the round, while Shaikh Hamad gave a flawless performance in the second race to finish at the top of the podium and gain important points.  Those in contention for the title will be preparing to let loose at the green light of this weekend’s Batelco 2000cc Challenge round as the competitors look to claim top position and maximum points.

Spectators will also be able to enjoy sprint races across a range of car and motorbike categories as some of Bahrain’s most talented aspiring drivers take to the track to test their vehicles of choice.
