Bahrain Touring Car Challenge
The Bahrain Touring Car Challenge is the next chapter of the 2000cc Challenge. Launched in 2024, it takes everything that made the 2000cc formula work (safe, close, affordable racing) and opens the grid to a wider range of cars.
The key is Balance of Performance (BoP). Instead of a single engine-size limit, every car runs to preset weight and power limits. That lets cars with different engine capacities race together on equal terms, so the result comes down to the driver and the team, not the size of the engine.
The BTCC is a joint effort between the Bahrain Motor Federation, Bahrain International Circuit and CRC: the same partnership that built the 2000cc Challenge. The BMF governs the sport, BIC hosts every round, and CRC organises and runs the championship, with its sporting and technical regulations.
Each season has seven rounds as part of National Race Day at BIC, on the 2.554 km Inner Track. Each round has practice, qualifying and two races, by day or under the floodlights.
Season 2 belonged to Ali Almansoori, who took the title by 107 points with seven poles from seven rounds and the season's fastest lap, a 1:16.338. Season 3 starts on Friday 30 October 2026.
How BoP works
- Cars of different engine capacities race together
- Every car runs to a preset minimum weight and power limit
- The limits are set in the technical regulations, and the current figures are in Rules & Regs (2026/27 Technical Regulations)
- Built to the same safety-first standards as the 2000cc Challenge
